Privacy Policy

Effective date: 15 October 2026

This website collects almost nothing about you. It has no forms, no accounts, no cookies, and no analytics or advertising tools. The only personal information we receive is what you choose to send us by email.

This policy explains what that information is, how we use it, and the rights you have. It applies to vanowen.co and any other website that links to it (the "Site").

Who we are. The Site is operated by Vanowen Inc., a Delaware corporation, 1521 Concord Pike, Suite 301-209, Wilmington, DE. 19803 ("Vanowen," "we," "us"). For the purposes of the UK GDPR and the EU General Data Protection Regulation, we are the controller of your personal information. Our affiliated companies in the United States and Japan may help us respond to you, as described below.

1. Information we collect

Information you send us by email. The Site contains an email link. If you use it, your own email program sends a message to us, and we receive whatever you include. That is normally your email address and, if you choose, your name, your message, and details such as a product serial number or where you bought your frame. We do not ask you for any other information, and you should not send us payment card numbers, government ID numbers, or health information.

Technical information recorded by our hosting provider. Like all websites, the Site is delivered by a hosting provider whose servers automatically record basic technical information when a page is requested. This includes your IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the date and time. We use these logs only to keep the Site running and secure. We do not use them to identify you, build a profile, or track you. They are deleted after 30 days.

We do not collect any other information through the Site, and we do not buy information about you from others.

2. How we use it, and our legal basis

PurposeInformation usedLegal basis under UK and EU GDPR
Replying to your email and handling your request Your email and what you include in it Our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us; or taking steps you requested before or under a contract
Warranty and after-sales service Serial number, purchase details, correspondence Performance of a contract with you, and our legal obligations
Keeping the Site working and secure Hosting logs Our legitimate interest in running a secure website
Meeting legal requirements and defending legal claims Any of the above, where relevant Legal obligation, or our legitimate interest in protecting our rights

We do not use your information for marketing unless you ask us to keep you informed. We do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling.

3. Cookies and tracking

The Site does not use cookies, web beacons, pixels, analytics, or similar technologies, and it does not store anything on your device. No third party collects information about your activity on the Site, and we do not track you across other websites.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. Because we do not track visitors, there is nothing for these browser signals to switch off. The Site treats every visitor as though such a signal were on.

If we ever add cookies or similar tools, we will update this policy first and, where the law requires, ask for your consent before using them.

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We have not done so in the past 12 months.

We disclose it only to:

5. International transfers

We are based in the United States and Japan, so if you write to us from the UK or the European Economic Area (EEA), your information will be transferred to and stored in those countries. Both the UK and the EU recognize Japan as providing adequate protection. For transfers to the United States, we rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension where our service provider is certified (Google is), or otherwise on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses and the UK International Data Transfer Addendum. You can ask us for more detail on these safeguards.

6. How long we keep it, and how we protect it

We keep email correspondence for 3 years after our last exchange with you. Where it relates to a product's warranty or service history, we keep it for as long as that product remains under warranty or service, plus any period the law requires. Hosting logs are deleted after 30 days. After that, we delete the information or make it anonymous.

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards suited to the small amount of information we hold. These include restricted access, two-factor authentication on our email accounts, and encryption in transit. No system is completely secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

7. Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, give you a copy, correct it, or delete it. Email us at studio@vanowen.co or call [toll-free number] and leave a message. We will respond within one month (UK and EEA) or 45 days (California), and we may need to confirm your identity first, usually by replying from the same email address. We will not charge you or treat you differently for making a request.

UK and EEA residents also have the right to restrict or object to our use of your information, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please tell us first and we will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK (ico.org.uk) or to the data protection authority in the EU country where you live or work.

California residents have the rights described above under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA. In the past 12 months we have collected the following categories of personal information:

Identifiers Name, email address, IP address You; your browser Service providers, affiliates
Commercial information Serial number, where and when you bought your frame You Service providers, affiliates, the retailer you bought from

We use these categories only for the purposes in section 2 and keep them for the periods in section 6. We do not collect sensitive personal information, so the right to limit its use does not apply. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of. You may make a request by email to studio@vanowen.co, by calling [toll-free number], or by mail to the address in section 10, and you may use an authorized agent. Under California's "Shine the Light" law, we do not disclose personal information to third parties for their direct marketing.

New York residents may make any of the requests above, and we will honor them.

8. Children

The Site is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has emailed us, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We will update this policy before we change how the Site collects information, for example when we add trade account features. We review this policy at least once every 12 months and will post any new version here with a new effective date. If a change materially affects information we already hold, we will tell you by email before it takes effect.
